Brag Board Tutorial

I decided to make a tutorial for the couple of people who asked about this - here goes:

Supplies needed:
1x8 piece of pine (mine is cut to 16 in. for this one - the first one I made was 20 in)
Mod Podge
Paint
3 sheets of coordinating scrapbook paper - 2 for the board 1 for the clothespins
Ink pad
Paper Trimmer
Sponge Brush
Hot glue gun
Vinyl Lettering

Step 1: Paint the edges and back of your sanded board

Step 2: While the paint is drying cut 2 sheets of scrapbook paper to fit the front of the board - these were 7 3/4 in. x 8 in.

Step 3:  Apply mod podge to the front of your board

then smooth your paper on

Make sure to get out any wrinkles or bubbles - let that dry.

Step 4: Distress the edges with a coordinating ink pad - I used a dark brown.

Step 5:  Apply a layer of mod podge over the top to seal it.

Step 6:  While your board is drying - trim coordinating paper to cover clothespins.  I used 4 for this size of board.

then mod podge the paper onto your clothespins.

Step 7: Add your vinyl brag board lettering

Step 8: Glue the clothespins onto the board using a hot glue gun.  I spaced mine every 4 inches.
Then add a hook to the back so you can hang it on the wall.

DONE!

Paper Heart Wreath

I got frustrated because I can NOT find a heart shaped styrofoam wreath.  I really wanted to make a wreath for Valentines Day so this is what I came up with.  It is kind of a mis-shaped heart but you can get the general idea.

Pendants

They aren't on scrabble tiles because I couldn't find any.  I actually made these pendants on some small wood pieces that my mom had left over from a craft project she did.  They worked really well.  I made a total of 9.  These are just a few of my favorites.  Thanks Andrea for the diamond glaze so I could finish this little project.  Another item on my craft to-do list can be checked off!

My first recipe

I've never put a recipe of my own on here before but I made this soup the other night and it turned out so delicious - I thought I would share.

Vegetable Chicken Noodle Soup

1 whole chicken cooked and shredded
2 - 32 oz cartons of chicken broth
4 cups of water
1 lb baby carrots
4 celery stalks chopped up
1 small onion chopped
6 potatoes peeled and chopped
1 bag frozen broccoli
1 can diced tomatoes
1 can dark red kidney beans - drained and rinsed
2 Tbsp dried minced garlic
Salt
Pepper

Throw all of that into a big pot and bring to a boil.  Once it is boiling add a bag of extra wide egg noodles (I like to use the ones that look homemade) and simmer for 20 minutes.  That's it!

January's Craft

This is what we did for January's Ladies Craft Night Out.

My SIL Andrea was in charge.  I've been wanting to do one of these stars for a while now and I'm really happy with how it turned out.  I bought another one from here but I'm still trying to decide how I want to do it.

I couldn't resist putting this pic up!

One to-do project done!

I finally went somewhere Saturday and picked up some craft supplies.  I made this bracelet and necklace in 15 minutes or less.  They go together way quick and it turned out cute.  I'm thinking of getting some different colored pearls and ribbon and seeing what I can come up with.  Anyway, I can scratch this off of my to do list - one down, a ton more to go!

LOVE

I made this cute little plaque when I was trying to come up with something for Ladies Craft Night Out.  I just took an 8 x 8 piece of wood and painted it brown.  Then I mod podged LOVE that I cut out with the cricut.  I then mod podged a contrasting heart on top of the other heart.  After it was all dry I took some fine sand paper and went distressed the edges and the paper.  It really turned out cute.

Brothers

I saw the cutest saying the other day:  BROTHER there's no buddy like a brother.  I really like it (mostly because our little guys call each other buddy ALL the time!)  so I decided to make something that displayed this saying.  The only thing is we have more than one brother in our home so I changed it to BROTHERS.  I can't wait to hang it in our new house!

It was really simple to make.  I found an unused piece of wood in my dad's garage and cleaned it up a bit.  Then I painted it ivory.  I cut scrapbook paper to fit the length and width of the front and mod podged it on.  When that dried, I modpodged BROTHERS on and then the rest of the saying on top of that.  One final coat of modpodge over the top and  DONE!  I'm really happy with the way it turned out.

Aaron and I aren't really big on VDAY but I thought this was cute!

Magnets

I wanted to make some cute magnets for my soon to be done kitchen!  These are so simple and cute!

Clothespins, scrapbook paper, mod podge, and magnets is all you need to make these little babies.  I can't wait to put them to use!

PS There is still time to bid at the online auction.  They have a ton of stuff to bid on so check it out.  My items are number 43 and 44.  It's for a GREAT cause so head on over.

Laundry

I saw this cute little saying online the other day - can't remember where now.  But I decided to make a sign to hang in our soon to be done laundry room.  It turned out really cute.  I just took a 8x8 pine plaque and mod podged paper on it after I had painted the edges and back.  I then cut out the saying in vinyl and applied it.  I glued a ribbon on with the hot glue gun and DONE!

Online Auction

I recently donated 2 crayon rolls (I'm not sure when they will be posted) to an online auction to help a guy who needs chemotherapy but has no insurance.  I don't know the man personally but I do know 2 of his daughters in law.  Please go and check out the auction here.
Thanks,

LOVE Blocks

I signed up to host Ladies Craft Night Out for February.  Since that is the month for LOVE - this is what I came with.

I made two different sets and stacked them differently just so people could have more than one option.  They turned out really cute and were very simple to make.

More To Do Projects!

I have to post these on here so I don't forget all the fabulous ideas that I see when looking around at other people's craft blogs.  Here are just a few more of the things on my list of craft projects to do.

How sweet is this Valentine Wreath?!

I Love this idea.

These bookshelves are so cute!

Love this necklaces/bracelets idea

Those are just a couple ideas I have stumbled upon recently.  I can't wait to get some supplies so I can get my craft on.
